The 63-year old easy listening pop star, Cho Yong-pil is not new to the music industry. Cho Young-pil has been in the music genre of Korean pop music from 1975. Cho Yong-pil is known for his electronic music and ballads. Psy was knocked down from the top of the South Korean charts with Cho Yong-pil’s Bounce. Cho Yong-pil released his album, Hello this week, it is the first album in a decade to be released. Fans are going wild to buy Hello. Cho Yong-pil pushed Psy’s Gentleman to number 13 while his songs took the top ten places on the daily charts.
Psy had to settle for second place on the weekly music charts in South Korea, but Psy shouldn’t be too disappointed as he moved up to fifth place on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States this week. Psy has gathered over 220 million views on YouTube after already beating the record for first-day views for Gentleman.
Psy has another smash hit video in Gangnam Style which is following Gentleman video footsteps in going viral on the internet. Gentleman has made Psy a mega star in South Korea, but around the world. Psy talked to reporters and has let everyone know that he has nothing but respect for Cho Yong-pil. Psy said,” I couldn’t be happier, although getting on the Billboard chart makes me grateful.”
