We are proud to present yet another self made blogger, Pradeep Kumar (India) – the man behind HellboundBloggers.com and now, Moviesdrop.com. An extremely down-to-earth person inspite of his popularity, he is a worthy role model for some aspiring wannabes (me included).
Pradeep is one of the top-notch bloggers who will always reply to you on Facebook, help you out with your problems and even offer a piece of advice if he sees you wrong. It is a rare trait among others who fall in the same bracket.
- No false airs about him.
- No haughtiness at all.
Let us today meet the man himself and know more about him & his blog.
We all know you as a blogger. Our readers want to know more about you as a person. Tell us about yourself. Your family, friends & education.
A typical small family with my father, mother and an elder brother. I’m a proud Indian and Atheist.
Any girlfriend? We won’t ask you her name- promise!!!
“Forever Alone”
I guess you are a full time blogger now. Am I right?
When did you start blogging? And how did it happen?
I started Blogging when I was in my school. But, that was just ‘time pass’ blogging, I didn’t focus much on it then. It was around 2009 I took this seriously, that’s the birth of “HellBound Bloggers (HBB)”. I wanted a platform to share my views. The rest, as they say, is history.
I love the name, “HellBound Bloggers”. How did you come to choose this one?
Some people say it was inspired by “HellBound Hackers”, but that is something not actually 100% inspiration for me. I already had an email address with the word “hellbound” in it before I even knew about that site. I wanted the domain name to sound good and look like an organization, and I picked this!
Do you work from home or do you have an office? And how many people help you out with handling your blog?
I don’t have an office. I think a silent place is fair enough for Blogging as of now for me. Guest Authors help HBB every day, MoviesDrop has good authors, and right now working on HostLater’s posting strategy.
On an average, how many hours do you spend online?
It depends actually, I use my mobile often, so in particular, around 10 to 12 per day.
One of my biggest handicaps is that I am ‘technically impaired’. You are an engineer. Did your technical skills make the journey so far easier for you?
Please, my Education has nothing to do with my Blogging Journey unfortunately, it is like a barrier in fact. -_-
What do you like most about being a blogger?
Honestly, this is the main reason. Apart from this, I have a job where I can take my own decisions, success or failure, I can learn from it.
And is there anything you don’t like about being one? (Please feel free not to answer this one)
Yeah, it’s hard to explain my relatives and family what I’m actually doing. Even if I explain to them, they ask me again when they see me again.
With your immense fan following, you are now earning handsomely from your blog. You are an inspiration for so many of us out there.
Is there any ‘success mantra’ you would like to share with us?
Yes there is! I thank myself for being mature early in my Blogging journey, I altered the definition of “Success” and I didn’t care about my blog’s outcomes as long as I focus on producing quality and useful content.I didn’t make money online for the first one year, PageRank went back to ‘0’, Adsense banned our site, and finally our web hosting ditched our account because of high CPU usage. Looking back, things were really very interesting, but they are just our Blogging experiences. So don’t worry about being low or being unnoticed, work hard and you’ll surely come up.
Most newcomers struggle to get enough traffic to their blog. Did you go through a similar phase at the beginning of your career? How did you finally manage to make your blog as widely followed as it is today?
When I started to write some posts on this topic, I was afraid whether readers will accept these kind of content. For a moment, I even thought of ditching my 3000 words length post. But I always considered “HBB” more of my personal blog than a professional blog, so I just published it. Then I learned readers need some entertaining and off-topic information sometimes, so I changed the way I write blog posts. Traffic was much improved after.
Don’t you think Google is making things too difficult for bloggers with the Panda and Penguin algorithms. As if they were not enough of a nuisance, we have the Zebra coming up soon. What, according to you is the best way to avoid being hit by these updates?
Just like we clean our desktop or our own room, Google is trying to clean the web/internet. Just try to imagine yourself as a normal net user and not as a blogger, think how you’ll feel when you see irrelevant search results with no proper information, you’ll feel bad about Google, and Google hates that. So they introduced some algorithms to make this perfect. They are ditching low quality websites, in a nutshell. To avoid this, why not focus on writing good quality content instead? We all make mistakes but we can recover/correct them. Also just be careful with the guest posts you accept, spend few minutes to verify whether it is authentic or not.
You recently started MoviesDrop. Which is a completely different ball game from blogging about blogging tips, making money online, social media and technology which you had been doing thus far. What drew you into it?
I’m a total movie freak, but to be honest, I never actually thought of owning a movie blog. When I started to interact with fellow movie fans on Facebook and Twitter, I thought “Wow, why don’t we do this on our blog?”. Also I wanted to have movie lists, like “Top 10 Horror Movies”, etc, so I prepared my own and waited for a platform to share them. I first started MoviesDrop Facebook group, and I was really happy to see the interaction there. Then I started the blog asap.
You are always willing to accept well written Guest posts too. I am sure there are so many bloggers who would love to be published on your blog. Can you share your Guest blogging rules in a nutshell?
Rules are pretty simple. Focus on a good quality idea, make it as a post. Remember readers are so busy that they won’t actually spend time to read blog posts fully, they just scan, so make it impressive to change this. Also, before that, kindly search on our blog whether that post was already published or not.
