I have decided to put together the ultimate guide to blogging. Within 6 months of blogging, Sbabzy reached almost 2000 comments just by working smart. Almost 500 posts, including mine and other wonderful guest bloggers. I work almost 10 hours daily on this blog. We now offer both professional writing and technical services at affordable prices.
Blogging is one of the most lucrative forms of earning money on the internet, and by following my guide you will have a proven blueprint to success. This guide will provide you with an overview of all the necessary information to get your blog up and running, including everything you need to know about choosing a blogging platform, hosting, creating content, guest blog posts, search engine optimization, page rank, and building backlinks. Section by section, you will be given clear instructions in how to go about building a blog that will have you earning money in no time at all.
1. Choosing a Blogging Platform
The first thing that you will have to decide as a blogger is what type of blogging platform you will use. There are two basic options from which to choose: a free blogging platform or a paid service. Many first-time bloggers will be drawn to the free options, such as Blogger which is provided by Google.
There are both advantages and disadvantages to using a free platform. On the plus side, if it is your first time setting up a blog, there is no way easier to do so than through Blogger. Blogger will allow you to buy a domain through their service for just $10 a year, which is an extremely reasonable price. Best of all, you will not need any technical expertise to get your site up and running, since Google will direct your domain to your blog automatically.
The downside is that free blogging platforms won’t give you much control over the layout of your blog. If you’re looking to make real money from blogging, then I would recommend a self-hosting platform so you have full control over all of the details of your site. You want to be able to customize your site according to the specifics of your blog, and this will require paying for your own hosting.
Moreover, if you are hosting your own site it means you’ll be able to design the blog and position advertisements according to your own preferences. I can also guarantee that you’ll have a much easier time branding your website if you have your own domain and hosting than if your blog’s URL ends with the name of the free platform you are using.
2. Hosting for your Blog
I recommend that you choose to set up a blog with your own hosting, and there are many great and inexpensive options to select from. I would also recommend setting up your site through the WordPress platform, and one of the benefits is that many hosting sites will be able to host your blog without any trouble. If you’re looking for simple and effective self-hosting, WordPress is the way to go.
Many bloggers think to themselves that it’s best to start out with a free blog and then to gravitate towards a paid option once they begin to gain more experience. As a successful blogger who started out with paid hosting, I would recommend strongly against this. It is not easy at all to move your site once it is already set up using a free option, and you will be severely limiting yourself if you stick with a free blogging platform. Unless you start immediately with a paid platform, you are likely just asking for trouble later on in the process.
Considering the ease in which you can set up a blog with WordPress, I would highly encourage you to use their platform. For one, it’s the most popular platform, which means that there are millions of other bloggers in your position. This means that there will be a large number of plugins to fulfill your every need as a blogger, which will save you lots of time!
Besides for that, WordPress has lots of premium templates that you can upload to your site for absolutely free, so it won’t be even cost you that much to have an attractive site up and running. With an inexpensive hosting option, you can have your own beautiful WordPress blog for under $5 a month. For this price, there is no reason at all to not have your own hosting.
3. Creating Content for your Blog
Now that your blog is up and running, you can start creating content for your website. Oftentimes, new bloggers struggle with how often to write blog posts and what type of information to include in posts, so I would like to offer some general directions in my ultimate blogging guide. These guidelines will help bloggers irrespective of your niche, as they are useful tips about the general blogosphere.
The first rule is that in order for your website to increase its search engine rankings, the most important aspect for your blog to master is providing unique content. Many bloggers are of the opinion that the search engines place a penalty on any website that has duplicate content. While this is not directly true, it is the case that blogs without unique information will not rank very well in search engines.
Moreover, even if your blog is ranking in search engines, you’ll have trouble building a consistent readership unless you provide them with valuable content that they cannot get elsewhere. When it comes to creating content, I say that one rule will always hold: quality over quantity. It’s much better to not post so often and keep your posts unique and informative, than it is to post lots of plagiarized content. Besides harming your blog’s search engine rankings, the latter will just turn off your readers from ever coming back to your site.
Various bloggers have offered different opinions regarding the ideal size of a blog post. As a successful blogger myself, I will say that it depends on the niche in which you are writing and a whole host of other factors. As long as you are providing valuable content, do not be afraid about writing more than 500 or even 1,000 words in a blog post. The same is true in the reverse: if you are writing content that isn’t unique or informative, nobody will read what you write irrespective of its length.
As long as you provide valuable content with moderate frequency, then your blog will be in good shape. I like to post at least once a week, especially for my new blogs, but even slightly less than this would be acceptable if your posts are of a high caliber.
4. Submitting Guest Blog Posts
While bloggers will feel inclined to only want to publish posts on their own website, every blogger must recognize the value of submitting guest posts to other bloggers in his or her niche. If you would like your blog to be truly successful, then this behavior is not optional! There are many benefits to submitting guest posts, all of which can significantly improve the quality of your blog.
First, being published on other blogs in your niche is a simple way of gaining exposure with your target market. You’ll be submitting guest posts to relevant blogs in your niche, so you are already guaranteed that the people reading your content are interested in your subject matter. If you can get a portion of their blog’s reading over to your own site, you stand to have a chance of converting some of these readers into longtime followers of your blog.
Second, even putting the potential for a great boost in traffic aside, guest posts will provide your website with strong, relevant backlinks. Backlinks can go a long way in improving the page rank and search engine optimization of your website, as I’ll explain in further detail below. Sufficient to say, backlinks from guest posts are some of the best types of backlinks possible for your blog, and therefore writing guest posts should be a healthy component of any blog development strategy.
Third, it will help you with a tricky part of creating a blog: branding. Being able to project a consistent image, both on your own blog and those in which you contribute as a guest blogger, is an important part of becoming an authority blog on a subject. The better you are at maintaining consistency, the more likely it is that your writing will attract readers to follow your blog.

5. Building up your Blog’s Page Rank
Page Rank is one of the main factors in Google’s algorithm which determines the search engine rankings of a website. Since traffic from organic searches is widely considered to be the most valuable form of traffic, I think bloggers should be paying close attention to the page rank of their blogs. The majority of internet searches are done through Google, and so having a high page rank can be the most significant factor in determining whether a blog is a success or a failure.
I did a few things in order to quickly improve the page rank of my own blogs, and I recommend that you do the same. First, as mentioned above, I only wrote blog posts which I knew were 100% unique to my own blog and provided my readers with valuable information. I knew that I didn’t want to take any risks with duplicate content when it came to improving my site’s page rank.

Second, it is important to build backlinks in other ways, including submitting your website to online directories. Personally, I prefer to use EzineArticles since it receives the most traffic, and you’ll be able to gain both traffic and backlinks when you use it correctly. Besides for this, I would urge all bloggers to take advantage of social media.

6. Social Media for your Blog
It’s important for bloggers to recognize the unique ability of social media to drastically improve your blog’s overall traffic. On a most simple level, there is a huge amount of traffic on the leading social media websites, and if you’re able to have a slice of this traffic for your blog then you’ll be in great shape.
Additionally, backlinks from social media are becoming increasingly powerful, and so beyond the benefit of getting more traffic there are additional reasons to take social media seriously. These backlinks will improve you website’s page rank and subsequently improve your blog’s search engine rankings. Therefore, this combined potential of both traffic and valuable backlinks makes social media indispensable.

Social media is also important when it comes to branding your blog. In the same way that it is important to have a consistent image of your blog when it comes to writing guest posts, the same holds true when in the realm of social media. Building a brand will create a bond between you and your blog readers, and it will also make it more likely for your readers to share links to your blog on their personal pages.
Finally, it is important to realize that all social media websites are used differently, and so bloggers need to particularize their strategies for each website. In order to take advantage of social media correctly, you’ll need valuable content that is unique and fits the audience of each social media website. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that all you need to do is upload generic content onto your profile page and expect to gain much in the way of traffic!
7. Improving your Alexa Rank and Domain Authority
Beyond social media, it is also important to keep an eye on your website’s alexa rank and its domain authority. Your blog’s alexa rank is reflective of how much traffic your website receives, and beyond what I’ve written so far about guest posts, unique content and social media, I would like to suggest additional ways of improving your website’s alexa rank.
One easy strategy is to comment intelligently on relevant blogs in your niche, which can bring in a surprising amount of traffic. Each well-written comment can serve as a mini guest post, and the backlink itself will be valuable.
Additionally, if you follow my recommendation and set up your blog using WordPress, there will be a lot of SEO plugins available to choose from. These plugins can drastically improve your blog’s search engine rankings, thereby increasing traffic and improving your website’s alexa rank.
Another number to monitor, besides page rank and alexa, is your blog’s domain authority. This is a statistic which combines your blog’s age, popularity, and size, and it’s often a useful indicator of how well your blog will rank in search engines. Follow the advice above to quickly improve your blog’s domain authority!
8. Always be on the Lookout
Last but not least, it is important for bloggers to acknowledge that blogging is a world which is constantly changing. There are always new updates, and unless you make an effort to stay ahead of the curve, you will find that your blog is obsolete. Therefore, bloggers need to always stay at the forefront of how the blogosphere is developing, so that they can act in accordance with the latest trends.

In order to do so, I recommend following the blogs of leading professional bloggers which often have clear and valuable analysis on these matters. There are many to choose from, and a simple Google search will allow you to select the particular bloggers which appeal to you.
Beyond following their blogs, you should take advantage of blogging forums which can be an immensely valuable source of information. My personal favorites are Digital Point and Warrior Forums, both have which allowed my blogs to start earning money rapidly!
In summation, by following my guidelines and educating yourself on blogging, I can guarantee that you will begin seeing traffic and profits in no time!
